Community Service

Director ~ Lucy Jiang

The CS Department wishes to inspire a difference in the community through the actions of our exec team. We believe that schoolwork is a number one priority, but social interaction and campus/community involvement come a close second. We blend charitable events with lots of fun and excitement, so that volunteering seems rewarding and interesting. This year, we are planning a downtown East side visit, a senior home/after-school day care visit, ice cream sales, a fundraiser gala in collaboration with CVC, and a possible fashion show (due to the enormous success we had with our first ever show last year, La Vie). Come out to our events and support our cause, we promise you won’t be let down!

Hello all and welcome to DSC’s awesome Cultural Department! We are a group of dedicated members with open hearts and a goal to bring everyone closer together by exploring various cultural activites. Every year we offer plenty of fun and exciting workshops ranging from dance, Ma Jiang tournaments, to the popular bartending workshop. This year we may also introduce some new workshops that will bring the creative side out of each person. You are always welcome to share your experiences and ideas with us as we love to learn new things from one another. So come and bring everyone you know to meet our friendly Cultural Department and we’ll have an amazing school year together!

This department takes care of all the designing needs of DSC, ranging from dance posters to event tickets, advertisements for the annual ski trip to program booklets and posters for the iconic productions events. If you love to design and aspire to see your work of art widely distributed around UBC, our department is the best place for you to develop your potential and to meet others who share the same passion! We are the ones who make the first impression for our events, and the graphic department looks forward to making an impression on you this upcoming year.

Welcome to our website! Whatever you see here is what the IT department manages, if you’re into web design or content management, this is the right department for you! We promise we won’t enslave you to do any of our evil deeds, whatever you learn from us will be valuable skills for the future. lulz. We’re cool, we promise.

Members Communication

Although our department makes very little grammatical sense, the words do us justice of what we represent! We here at the Members Communication department brainstorm, organize, and run the internal events that allow “members” to “communicate” with each other. This can range anywhere from dinners to parties; the possibilities are endless. If you’re the type who loves to host parties, dinners, gatherings, or just aim to have a great time, you know who to find!

Production department produces some of the highlights in dsc every year! Our show in May, 2009, with guest singer Pakho Chau, was a great success! And we are proud to annouce that we will also invite a singer in our upcoming show as well! If you want to be more involved or simply want to meet famous people in person, be an exec and be a part of productions! We can guarantee you a year of excitement! You’ll have a chance to do things you thought you would never do, meet some really good friends, network, and have a better looking resume! At the last, wish you a great year with DSC!

Are you someone who is upbeat with the newest movies, music, games or fashion trends? Do you have a special interest in taking photographs and putting them online to share with others? Wouldn’t it be exciting if you can have your own column in a magazine where you can write about what you are interested in? Now you have the chance to get those wonderful photos and interesting pieces online with us at DSC Publication. At our department, you will have the opportunity to participate in the work of our e-magazine by posting your articles, photos and reviews of restaurants and movies. We are also in charge of taking photo-shoots and videos of the DSC workshops and events. So if you want to get your voice out there, come join us at the Publication Department!

Hey everybody! From all the hard work the previous social department has put in, hopefully this year it will be bigger and better! Our job is to organize and host unforgettable events such as dances held on the UBC campus or clubbing events with other school clubs or entertainment companies. If you think you are outgoing and enthusiastic about meeting new people, this is the department for you. What better way to party, have fun and let everyone else know about DSC!
